What is an adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a maneuver performed on a joint of the body by the practitioner’s hand. Its purpose is to increase movement of the joint. In the process, it usually decreases pain and lessens stiffness. The sound that patients hear that accompanies an adjustment is caused by a gas bubble which is released.
To date, there is a large body of research showing the benefits of chiropractic adjustments. Complications are quite rare. Side-effects such as tenderness are usually mild and only last a short time. Chiropractors have training which lets them determine if it is likely you will respond to adjustments, or if it is necessary to refer to another health professional.
Do I need a medical referral?
This is not required, Canadian chiropractors are primary contact professionals, which means you can see a chiropractor directly.
What conditions do you treat?
The most common conditions that we see are neck and lower back pain, however, the majority of joint and muscle problems (often called soft tissue injuries) can also be treated successfully. For example, conditions such as elbow pain, shoulder pain, and pain in the feet or legs can usually be helped.
Besides chiropractic adjustments are there other treatment types do you provide?
Yes, we use myofascial release techniques which are very helpful in the majority of muscle and joint problems. This includes conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, tension headaches, tennis elbow, plantar fascitis and more.
We also provide acupuncture treatments. These can aid the chiropractic adjustments and decrease pain.
Do I required x-rays?
Not necessarily. This depends on your individual case. After a consultation and examination, we can then tell you if x-rays are deemed necessary.

Can I bring my Child to the appointment?
We understand that people are busy, and it can be hard sometimes to find someone to watch your children when you need to attend an appointment. To make it easier for you to attend visits to our office, we are happy to have your child come with you, in order to make it easier to receive Chiropractic care.
I’m not sure if it is a muscle or a joint problem?
Either way, it doesn’t really matter because we diagnose and treat both muscle and joint conditions. Most people attend our office have complaints that have both a joint and a muscle component. Occasionally the problem is strictly a joint or muscle condition. In our office it doesn’t really matter because we treat both types of complaints with a combination of manipulation and muscle release technique. If the condition is not improving as fast as we would like then acupuncture can be added on if the patient desires.
What is a Chiropractor?
A Chiropractor is a doctor that focuses on treatment of the musculo-skeletal / soft tissue system. This consists of the joints, muscle, tendons, ligaments and nerves of the body. We provide treatments without drugs or surgery. We are one of the few professions who are able provide a diagnosis for your problem. Treatments consist mainly of manipulation of the joints and soft tissue therapy geared towards the joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves of the body
Do Chiropractors treat more than just backs?
Yes, although the primary treatment is geared towards the spine to help back and neck pain. We treat all of the joints of the body, namely toes, feet, ankles, knees, hips, fingers, hands, wrists , elbows and shoulders. Treatment are applied with the goal of restoring normal range of motion to the joints and ensuring that the muscles associated with that joint are functioning correctly. Common conditions other than spine pain that we treat include headaches, shoulder , hip and knee condition, along with many more pain syndromes.
What is the sound?
During an adjustment the joint is separated for a short quick period of time. This causes the pressure in the joint to quickly rise, causing the liquid in the area to turn into a gas for a short period of time. This is caused cavitation and gives rise to the noise. Similarly if you have a glass upside down on a wet surface and you quickly pull it straight up, you may here a popping sound. This is due to the quick change in pressure just like a manipulation.
Some people erroneously think that the noise is the bones crackly. This definitely not the case.
