Muscle Release in Thunder Bay

What is Muscle Release (MR)?

person getting their shoulders massagedMuscle Release is a soft tissue treatment system, that focuses on adhesion removal that we offer at Outback Chiropractic Clinic. It was discovered that if doctors could feel the adhesion, they could manually relax the muscle while getting under the adhesion with their fingers or thumb. The muscle could then gently be stretched out, breaking up the adhesion causing the pain. The treatment is safe, fast and effective.

The goal of MR is to restore optimal texture, motion, and function of the soft tissue and release any entrapped nerves or blood vessels.

This is accomplished through the removal of adhesions or fibrosis in the soft tissues via the application of specific protocols. Adhesions can occur as a result of acute injury, repetitive motion, and constant pressure or tension. MR eliminates the pain and dysfunction associated with these adhesions.

What Are Adhesions?

Adhesions (scar tissue) are the most rudimentary grade of tissue the body manufactures to repair itself. The fibers are much smaller than normal connective tissue and do not have cross linkages. Adhesions create barriers in muscle tissue resulting in non-compliant muscle activity. Non-compliant muscles exhibit poor circulation, weakness, pain and reduced flexibility. Cramping at night and shin splints are typical signs of non-compliant muscles in the lower limbs. Hand and/or arm pain at night are signs of adhesions in tendons of the upper limbs. Joint pain without swelling or deformity can be caused by muscle-attachment strain adjacent to the involved joints.
